This weekend is the 4^th of July. Each and every one of us has so very much to be thankful for. If you are living in this country you are blessed with boundless freedom and opportunity. It is that freedom and opportunity that makes us a truly unique nation.

If you are a part of my tribe (our community) here at StreetWise Property Investing you know all too well my trumpet song of FREEDOM. Freedom is not something that any of us should take lightly, however, many of us do take for granted.

We have the opportunity and freedom to learn new skills, start a business, make money, lose money, grow stronger, grow wiser, be independent, and the list goes on and on. So many other places on this planet do not allow for this level of independence.

We also have the freedom to be lazy, not take risks, play it safe, live in fear, not grow etc. It is OUR CHOICE as to what we do with our time. We all have 24 hours in a day. What we CHOOSE to do with that time is what truly sets each of us apart.

Whether you have chosen to be a victim with your life and not take responsibility, or you have owned up to your life, committed yourself to growth, learning and making yourself better each and every day, it is your CHOICE.

But, make no mistake about it, that choice (to win or lose, grow or die) came as a result of the extremely hard work of five individuals who were appointed by the Continental Congress to write the Declaration of Independence, and subsequently sign the final version 239 years ago.

Thomas Jefferson listed in the Declaration of Independence man’s “inalienable rights” as “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” George Mason listed man’s “natural Rights” as “Enjoyment of Life and Liberty, with the Means of acquiring and possessing Property, and pursuing and obtaining Happiness and Safety.”

Our forefathers really did know what they were doing. And, it is these same freedoms that we all are able to still enjoy today. For those of you who have not yet started your real estate investing business what are you waiting for? Do you need guidance? Do you need a mentor? Do you need education?

Take time this weekend to reflect on what an incredible time it is to live, and what an amazing country we have to live in with boundless opportunities. Regardless of where your life is right now, on top of a mountain, or struggling deeply, let’s raise a toast this weekend to our past and present service men and women who continue to fight for our freedoms…the same freedoms that let us CHOOSE to be great or not.
